Network of luxury car thieves under investigation in Romania
The Romanian Police started investigating employees of the car registration in Pipera, while searching in 44 other locations, looking for a network of luxury car thieves, who have been under surveillance for the last six months. They rented cars in Spain and Italy, and then, with the help of employees from the car registration service and the Romanian Car Register (RAR), they registered the cars Romania. Two police officers are among suspects.
A number of 36 people are accused of giving and taking bribery, fraud with particularly serious consequences, material false official documents, false documents under private signature, forgery, disclosure of information not intended for advertising, driving a vehicle on public roads without a license. Searches are conducted both in Bucharest and in Ilfov, Constanta, Giurgiu and Suceava.
Bucharest Prosecutor's Office has investigated four cases in the last few months, in which several persons are accused of stealing luxury cars. Among them was the Romanian footballer, Cristian Munteanu.
